Objectives of the project
Develop
To develop, test and promote a universally applicable model for R&R interventions in traditional smallholder mixed coffee farms in Uganda for uptake in the public and private coffee extension programs.
Train
To train a generation of young rural youths in the Ugandan coffee sector, with initially 150 youth leaders trained and equipped to operate as private coffee service providers for farmers and public and private extension services
Rehabilitation
Carry out a farm Rehabilitation and Rejuvenation (R&R) package that doubles coffee yields, improve the quality of farmers’ coffee and substantially increase their income from a coffee-based diversified and regenerative farming system
Incorporation
Incorporation and promotion of coffee agroforestry systems
Income
Increased understanding of the current income of smallholder coffee farmers in Uganda, and of the contribution of Good Agricultural Practices adoption in reducing their living income gap.

Established in 2006, UCP is the oldest coffee country platform in the Global Coffee Platform (GCP) network.
