Get to Know us

UCP aims to create a well-informed, productive, efficient, sustainable, respected, and professional coffee value chain that fairly benefits all value chain actors and the country at large.

Through its pre-competitive work that focuses on convening the sector, it has built a strong regulation in the coffee sector in Uganda. For instance, UCP has successfully implemented smallholder training programmes financed by the private sector, reaching out to over 50,000 coffee farmers.

Implemented as a GCP Collective Action Initiative , its ongoing “Youth for Coffee” endeavour brings together 5 international partners and 5 local implementing partners in a pre-competitive approach in the value chain to work together to improve productivity and youth employment,

Our Structure

The Coffee Platform structure

The coffee platform’s secretariate is comprised of a steering committee at both the National and District levels which provides an executive body for the Uganda Coffee Platform.

The National Coffee Strategic Plan 2015-2020 defines the need for a multi-sector approach in the implementation of the development of the sub-sector. The Uganda Coffee Platform echoes this with participation from sector-wide implementers of the coffee strategy, namely:

GoU Line Ministries, Departments and Agencies | Private sector associations | Research and academia | Farmers and farmer’s organisations | Development partners/ funding agencies  | International projects | Women’s Representation | Youth representation | Civil Society

As the secretariat of the UCP, Café Africa takes the initiative for establishing special working groups, an annual stakeholders meeting, and monthly Steering Committee Meetings. All these are effective vehicles to communicate the learnings of our strategies to the coffee sector and drive the scaling process.
